Why we say
superintelligence.
Words do more than label a technology. They set the scale of our expectations before we have looked closely at what the technology can do — and what people might do with it.

The word carries a frame
“Artificial” can sound like “not real”.
That is not what the field means by artificial intelligence. Still, words arrive with associations. “Artificial” can suggest imitation, counterfeit or second-rate before a person has met a useful system, a capable agent or a possibility worth taking seriously.
We prefer superintelligence because it points towards the scale and possibility of this emerging field. The name is an invitation to look up and think bigger.
This is our editorial choice, not a claim that every system available today exceeds human intelligence. We will describe actual capabilities and limits carefully.
A small vocabulary
Agentic systems
Systems that can plan and take actions towards goals. “Agentic” describes how a system operates. It does not, on its own, mean the system is superhuman.
Post-agentic world
A possible social and economic setting in which personal agents become ordinary and reshape work, services and institutions. It is a transition we are exploring, not a claim that it has already happened.
The future combination
Agentic superintelligence.
That phrase describes a possible future in which highly capable intelligence can also plan and act. It joins two ideas that should stay distinct: how capable a system is, and how independently it can pursue goals.
Our post-agentic work asks what happens to people and institutions when agents become part of ordinary life. Superintelligence gives that conversation a larger horizon. Neither phrase settles what the future will be; both help us ask better questions about agency, care, abundance and responsibility.
Search widely. Speak deliberately.
We will still use the words people search for.
People will continue searching for “AI” and “artificial intelligence”, and many institutions, products, reports and technical fields use those names. We will keep those terms where they help people find the work, identify an official subject or understand a source.
In our own writing, we will generally say superintelligence or SI. We will preserve source titles and quotations, and we will search established terminology alongside our preferred language. Our vocabulary should open the conversation, not hide the work from the people looking for it.
