Blade is my oldest son. He has the practical energy of an entrepreneur: he sees an opportunity, gets people and machinery moving, and works out how to make a deal work in the real world.
In that way he reminds me of my father, who loved doing deals and preferred action to paperwork. I have taken a different path — more of the paperwork man, like my grandfather Leslie Alfred, who spent his working life in the post office. Blade carries the more venturesome family thread.
