# End Up Here podcast

## Working proposition

**End Up Here** is a podcast about the lives, places and systems we might end up with when useful intelligence, robotics, abundant energy and better social arrangements become ordinary.

It is the long-form conversation layer of the End Up Here site: practical enough to lead to experiments, open-ended enough to ask what a good future is for.

The podcast should keep returning to one question:

> If people had more capability, more time and better tools, what would they actually do with their lives?

## Relationship to the wider work

- **End Up Here:** the public home for conversations, field notes, guides, machines and experiments.
- **New Earth Catalog:** the structured catalogue of tools, systems, projects and possible lives that emerges from the conversations.
- **People and Robots:** a connected practical strand about humane AI and robotics, especially care, memory and independence.

The podcast is not a sales channel and should not present speculation as fact. Each episode should distinguish lived experience, evidence, editorial judgement, proposal and imagination.

## Format

- Host: Martin Davies-Roundhill
- Typical length: 35–60 minutes for a conversation; 10–20 minutes for a field note
- Cadence: publish when there is a worthwhile conversation or experiment, rather than forcing a weekly schedule
- Tone: curious, practical, humane, opinionated, willing to be uncertain
- Each episode should end with: one thing to try, one thing to read or inspect, and one unresolved question

## Editorial rules

1. Start with a real person, place, tool or experiment.
2. Explain the underlying system, not only the visible gadget.
3. Give the listener something they can do, visit, build, read or test.
4. Separate what is known from what is hoped for.
5. Include objections and failure modes, especially around AI, work, privacy and power.
6. Prefer useful capability over technological spectacle.
7. Keep Martin's genuine first-person voice; do not turn the work into generic futurism.

## Current status

The local project mirror does not contain the ChatGPT project's conversation text or attachments, but the material is present in the ChatGPT project **Ends up here**. One recovered project conversation is **Energy Abundance and Efficiency**. Its key editorial proposition is that abundant energy could produce greater efficiency: intelligent systems would eliminate pointless use automatically, while humans would no longer need to conserve energy primarily because of price. The listing in `PODCAST_LISTING.md` remains a proposed commissioning slate until the rest of the project conversations are imported and checked.

The working production register is `PODCAST_PRODUCTION_STATE.json`. It currently reconciles 24 episode/research routes with their public pages, media guides, silent visual exports, recording state and next actions. The public listing at `podcast/index.html` is hand-authored static HTML; it must be updated alongside the register when titles, descriptions, routes or statuses change.

## Immediate production sequence

1. Use `PODCAST_SLATE_REVIEW.md` to choose and sequence conversations.
2. Confirm the series title, presenter bio and whether the show is one series or several strands.
3. Prepare and conduct the first interview: **What Happens to All That Compute?**
4. Record a short trailer and the opening episode when the two-sided capture path is verified.
5. Create a transcript and episode page for each release.
6. Choose an audio host/RSS platform, then publish and live-verify the episode.
7. Keep `PODCAST_PRODUCTION_STATE.json`, `PODCAST_LISTING.md` and `podcast/index.html` reconciled after every production change.
